Mr. Kopas' primary areas of practice are Commercial Litigation, Telecommunications Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation. In his Intellectual Property practice, Mr. Kopas has served as trial attorney in complex trademark infringement, false advertising and copyright infringement cases. As a former record producer, recording engineer, and songwriter for numerous national and independent record companies and recording artists, Mr. Kopas' experience gives him a unique perspective on the intellectual property rights of his clients.
He earned a J.D., magna cum laude, at Nova Southeastern University in 2001, where he was a member and articles editor for the Nova Law Review, which published his article on Florida constitutional law. He graduated with a B.A. from Florida Atlantic University in 1998.
He is admitted to practice in Florida and U.S. District Courts, Southern and the Middle Districts of Florida.
Mr. Kopas was named as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers magazine (Florida edition, 2010 & 2011).
He is a member of Broadcast Music, Inc. ("BMI") and a Voting Member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Voting Members are creative and technical professionals who have multiple recordings commercially released in the U.S. and, accordingly, are eligible to vote in the Grammy® Awards).
