In Memoriam – Paul R. Larkin, Jr.

--

It is with great sadness that we at Conrad and Scherer announce the passing of our distinguished colleague and partner emeritus Paul R. Larkin, Jr. Mr. Larkin was an attorney with our firm for 24 years. In that time he proved himself to be a savvy legal mind and a wise mentor to many young attorneys. After graduating Harvard Law School magna cum laude, Mr. Larkin served in the US Navy’s Judge Advocate General Division in Pensacola. At the request of the US Navy, he took the Florida bar and then proudly served his country until 1958. After leaving the Navy, Mr. Larkin began working for Blackwell, Walker and Gray where he spent the next 37 years as a trial lawyer defending hospitals and doctors against medical malpractice and wrongful death suits.

In 1995, Blackwell Walker closed its doors. Instead of retiring, Mr. Larkin at the age of 66 called Bill Scherer to ask about a position with his firm. Mr. Scherer hired him on the spot. During the next 24 years, Mr. Larkin’s vast knowledge of the legal system, along with his years of experience as a seasoned trial attorney, proved to be an invaluable resource for Conrad and Scherer until his retirement in 2019.

In addition to his outstanding legal career, Mr. Larkin was an avid fisherman, cared significantly about nature, and had a tremendous enthusiasm for the Miami Dolphins. Mr. Larkin’s memory will continue to be forever cherished by his loving family, his dear Rosalie and all of us at Conrad & Scherer.
