New York Times: William Scherer as the Lead Republican Lawyer in 2000s Presidential Recount

As William Scherer, the lead Republican lawyer, urged the judge to begin hearing evidence, he had projected onto a screen a large newspaper photograph showing two workers peering at a paper punchcard ballot they held up to the light.

”We are going to prove to you how silly it is to do this,” Mr. Scherer said.
