Conrad & Scherer, one of Fort Lauderdale’s top litigation law firms, gave back to the community with a sponsorship donation of $2,500 to the 5k4Kids event held on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

5k4Kids is an annual 5k run-walk held by the Saint Anthony Knights of Columbus with the primary beneficiary being the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Fort Lauderdale (CDTC). Founded in 1983, the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment center began as the follow-up program of the State’s Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center system and has grown to one of the area’s largest children’s agencies serving over 10,000 children annually. The Center’s focus is to provide medical care, case management, social services and other types of intervention to children and adolescents with chronic illnesses and developmental disabilities, while also providing support and education to their families.

The secondary beneficiary for the 2017 5k4Kids is the Saint Anthony Foundation for Education (SAFE). SAFE has a mission to keep tuition affordable while providing financial assistance to those in need. It strives to ensure children in the Fort Lauderdale area continue to receive the highest levels of academic, moral and spiritual formation regardless of their families’ ability to pay. Because tuition alone doesn’t cover the cost of educating a child, SAFE helps bridge the gap by providing teacher salary enhancements and funding critical educational projects.

“We are always excited to help children in need,” stated Conrad & Scherer’s founder and Managing Partner, William “Bill” Scherer. “I’ve been a long-time supporter of the good work of St. Anthony’s and am excited to be able to also support the great work done by the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Fort Lauderdale.”

Conrad & Scherer had six entries in the recent 5k run-walk. Edward Kreiling, the firm’s lead paralegal, came in third in his age group.
