Pathways to Careers in Law Program Celebrates 5 Years

The Pathways to Careers in Law program has reached a major milestone in South Florida. Now in its fifth year, the program continues to connect students with real-world legal experiences and career opportunities.

This partnership brings together Conrad & Scherer, NSU Shepard Broad College of Law, and Fort Lauderdale High School. Together, these organizations give students direct exposure to the legal field and guidance from experienced professionals.

A Hands-On Law School Experience

This year, 14 Pathways Fellows spent a full day on campus. First, they participated in a mock law school class, which gave them a clear look at how legal education works. Then, they spoke with current law students and learned about their experiences.

In addition, the Fellows toured the campus and explored the law school environment. The day ended with a reception that brought together judges, attorneys, faculty, students, and program alumni. As a result, students had the chance to build meaningful connections within the legal community.

Leadership and Community Support

The program welcomed several leaders who continue to support its mission. Among them were Dean Olympia Duhart and NSU President Dr. Moon. Their presence reinforced the importance of access, mentorship, and opportunity in the legal field.

The event also included Conrad & Scherer Founder William R. Scherer Jr., Program Lead Janine McGuire, and several firm attorneys. Each played a role in supporting and encouraging the Fellows throughout the day.

Building the Next Generation of Legal Professionals

The Pathways to Careers in Law program focuses on creating opportunities for students who may not otherwise have direct access to the legal profession. Through mentorship and real-world exposure, the program helps students better understand potential career paths.

At the same time, the program strengthens the connection between education and the legal community in South Florida. Over the past five years, it has grown into a meaningful initiative that continues to make a lasting impact.

Looking Ahead

As the program marks its fifth year, its mission remains clear. It will continue to guide, support, and inspire future legal professionals. With strong support from its partners and the broader legal community, Pathways to Careers in Law is well-positioned to grow even further in the years ahead.
