Jack Tuter brings over four decades of distinguished legal and judicial experience to Conrad & Scherer as a Senior Partner, following his retirement from the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. With nearly 45 years as a member of the Florida Bar, Tuter’s career has been defined by his commitment to upholding the rule of law, delivering fair and just outcomes, and shaping the future of Florida’s judicial system.
Appointed to the bench in 2005, Tuter served as Chief Judge for eight of his 20 years on the Circuit Court, leading Florida’s second-largest judicial circuit through some of its most challenging periods. Under his leadership, the Circuit navigated the operation of the courts during the COVID-19 pandemic, managed media and other protocols for the Parkland shooting trial, and established guidelines to handle an influx of new case filings after legislative tort reforms. Tuter’s steady hand during these pivotal moments reinforced his reputation as a decisive and thoughtful leader in the legal community.
During his tenure as a Circuit Court Judge, Judge Tuter served as Administrative Judge of the Unified Family Division and Administrative Judge of the Civil Division. While serving as Chief Judge, Judge Tuter presided over the Complex Tort Division for four years and eleven years in the Complex Business Division. He presided over high-profile business disputes, election challenges, and tobacco litigation. This diverse experience gives him a unique perspective on the strategic considerations that can make or break a case.
Before joining the bench, Tuter practiced law at Stephens Lynn Klein & McNicholas, where he specialized in tort litigation and managed the firm’s Broward office. He also served as Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco for the State of Florida, where he oversaw licensing, auditing and law enforcement for the State. His hands-on experience in trial and appellate courts, combined with his extensive judicial background, makes him a powerful advocate for clients facing high-stakes legal battles. He brings this extensive experience to Conrad & Scherer, where his insights and leadership strengthen the firm’s ability to tackle complex, high-profile litigation.
Tuter earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis School of Law and has been a respected member of the Florida Bar for over four decades. As a Senior Partner at Conrad & Scherer, he continues to build on his legacy of delivering exceptional results for clients navigating complex legal challenges. Judge Tuter’s leadership and vast experience in complex litigation will continue to serve the Conrad & Scherer clients with distinction.
