The team from Conrad & Scherer recently joined the thousands of people in attendance at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) for a Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The event was held on Saturday, December 10th on NSU’s campus to raise funds and awareness in an effort to help cure Alzheimer’s disease. The event was an invariable success as 97% of the $425,000 goal for fundraising was met, supported by the incredible people and companies that attended.
About Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurologic disorder that causes the brain to shrink (atrophy) and brain cells to die. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia — a continuous decline in thinking, behavioral and social skills that affect a person’s ability to function independently.
Approximately 5.8 million people in the United States age 65 and older live with Alzheimer’s disease. Of those, 80% are 75 years old and older. Out of the approximately 50 million people worldwide with dementia, between 60% and 70% are estimated to have Alzheimer’s disease.
About Funds Raised for The Event
All funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
If you or someone you know has been afflicted by this disease there are a number of resources available to learn more about education and treatments, please visit the Alzheimer’s Association and consider pledging your support to helping end Alzheimer’s.
