Conrad & Scherer’s Pathways to Careers in Law Launches its 4th Year

Aly Maya – First Pathways Scholarship Winner & Current NSU Student

First, I would say Nova would not have been accessible to me at all if I had not gotten the scholarship from Conrad & Scherer or Bright Futures.

Daniel Katz – Fort Lauderdale Pre-Law Magnet Coordinator

Today was the kickoff of our fourth year for the Pathway Program between Fort Lauderdale High School’s pre-law magnet and Nova South Eastern College of Law and also the law firm of Conrad & Scherer and the idea behind it is that throughout a school year you will be exposed to different aspects of the law

Yasmin Harebin – Conrad & Scherer Pathways Fellow and Summer Intern

So, at Conrad & Scherer, they give you a lot of hands-on experience. Specifically, I looked through a lot of evidence for significant cases that were going on, indexed that evidence, and helped strategize with attorneys for upcoming cases. I got to sit in on some of their trials and pre-trial oral arguments, so that was very interesting as well, and there was a lot of behind-the-scenes work. I got to look over depositions and help do a lot of indexing and a lot of communication with all the attorneys and paralegals in order to get these trials going.

David Gunion – Conrad & Scherer Associate Attorney

Being a lawyer is fantastic. I’m now in my second year as an associate with Conrad & Scherer Trial Lawyers in Fort Lauderdale, but being a paralegal really gave me a very unique perspective on the practice of law because paralegals are the real backbone for associates and partners.

Daniel Katz – Fort Lauderdale Pre-Law Magnet Coordinator

Yasmin is a current senior here at Fort Lauderdale High School, and she is the one who earned the internship for last summer. Conrad & Scherer takes one member of our pathway program, and they get a paid internship over the summer. She talked about her experience and the things that she was able to do as a High School junior in a law firm. The Real World experience and the connections that she was making between what she’s learning here and actually being in a law firm was as a teacher it was amazing
