Eric Hager Named Senior Partner at Conrad & Scherer

Conrad & Scherer is proud to announce the promotion of Eric J. Hager to Senior Partner in the firm’s Quito, Ecuador office—recognizing his exceptional contributions to some of the most complex, high-stakes litigation in the firm’s history.

A Global Mindset, Proven in Courtrooms

Hager’s practice spans commercial, appellate, human rights, and trust litigation. Fluent in Spanish and based in Quito, Hager serves clients navigating cross-border disputes across Latin America and the United States. With a unique ability to bridge international legal systems, he brings clarity and strategy to multinational litigation involving corporate misconduct, breach of contract, fraud, and more.

Historic Results, Global Reach

In 2025, Hager played a pivotal role in securing a record-breaking $832 million jury verdict in Broward County against Wells Fargo Bank—one of the largest in Florida history—on behalf of the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Minors’ Trust. Just months earlier, he helped deliver a $38 million verdict in a landmark case against Chiquita Brands International, holding the company accountable for financing violent paramilitary forces in Colombia.

These back-to-back victories didn’t just make headlines—they established Conrad & Scherer as a powerhouse in international and human rights litigation.

A Deep Legal Bench with International Acumen

Hager earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his undergraduate degree from American University. He has led field investigations in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru; collaborated with foreign law experts; and represented clients in discovery disputes involving 28 U.S.C. § 1782 and letters rogatory. His understanding of both U.S. and Latin American legal systems makes him a critical asset for clients operating in complex global environments.

Leadership Recognized

“Eric is very deserving of this promotion,” said William R. Scherer, Jr., founder and managing partner of Conrad & Scherer. “His deep knowledge of international law, litigation strategy, and human rights enforcement continues to shape some of the most impactful work we do.”

Hager regularly advises U.S. and international corporations, nonprofits, government officials, and trustees. He is known for his precision in motion practice, ability to manage multinational discovery teams, and unwavering commitment to justice.

Looking Ahead

With his promotion to Senior Partner, Hager will continue to expand the firm’s international footprint, represent clients in high-stakes litigation, and mentor the next generation of global trial lawyers.

Congratulations to Eric Hager on this well-earned promotion.
