Nurturing Legal Talent: How Our Pathways Program Sparked Arianna Alexander’s Journey

As Arianna Alexander’s internship at Conrad & Scherer draws to a close, we’re proud to reflect on her journey and the underpinnings of the Pathways to Careers in Law Program that made it possible.

A Glimpse into Our Program

The Conrad & Scherer Pathways to Careers in Law Program, created in partnership with Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law and Fort Lauderdale High School’s Pre-Law magnet, gives high school students an inside look at the possibilities of a legal career. Through mentorship, immersive law school visits, courtroom exposure, and one paid internship at our firm per year, the program guides students from high school all the way toward law school.

Our mission is rooted in diversity and inclusion, aiming to reshape the perceived barriers for minority students who might never have imagined a career in law. Since its inception, 38 Fellows have already participated, and some have gone on to pursue law at NSU, supported by the program’s scholarship opportunities.

Arianna’s Internship Highlights

Arianna, our summer intern, immersed herself in every aspect of firm life. She attended hearings, reviewed evidence, and took deposition notes—always demonstrating attention to detail, initiative, and keen focus.

She especially cherished moments that brought law to life: meeting district judges, observing a live trial, and engaging with seasoned legal professionals who had once walked the same path. Those experiences fulfilled the program’s goal of making legal careers tangible and inspiring.

Beyond the Desk: Extra-Curricular Excellence

Outside the firm, Arianna exemplified leadership and community engagement. She served on her high school’s Mock Trial Team, contributed to the Student Government Association, and participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters. This embodies the program’s spirit of civic-mindedness and ambition.

What Lies Ahead

Arianna’s passion for constitutional law, criminal law, trust litigation, and international law will guide her once she begins her Political Science studies at Florida A&M University this fall on the pre-law track, with law school in her sights.

We are grateful for Arianna’s contributions to the firm and her bright spirit. As she embarks on this next chapter, we have no doubt she’ll continue to shine.

Why This Program Matters

The Pathways to Careers in Law Program embodies our belief that exposure, mentorship, and opportunity can transform aspirations into reality. By supporting high school students like Arianna, we’re investing in a more diverse, confident, and dynamic future legal profession.
