Irwin Gilbert is a retired Senior Partner at Conrad & Scherer’s Fort Lauderdale office, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation, general business litigation, construction defect litigation, class actions, and professional liability. Practicing in both State and Federal Courts in Florida and across the country, Irwin represents Fortune 100 companies and other high-profile clients in high-stakes litigation. He has served as lead counsel in significant cases, including the defense in mass shooting cases, showcasing his capability in managing challenging, high-impact legal matters.
In 2025, Irwin served on the trial team that secured a historic $1.1+ billion jury verdict in Gopher v. Wells Fargo, the largest in Florida’s history against a solvent bank or public company. The case, representing approximately 2,000 children of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, exposed major breaches of fiduciary duty and intentional misconduct by Wells Fargo, marking a landmark victory for the tribe’s minors and a pivotal moment in financial accountability litigation.
Irwin is committed to achieving results through strategic efficiency, working closely with clients to understand their needs and expectations. His approach emphasizes compressing the litigation timeline to conserve client resources and reduce business disruptions. By deflecting delay tactics and streamlining case processes, he ensures cases progress efficiently, moving toward resolution before clients are overextended. While he is experienced in taking complex cases to trial, Irwin believes in identifying opportunities for more cost-effective resolutions where possible by clearly defining issues and objectives from the outset.
His clientele includes banks, investment firms, corporate executives, legal professionals, and Fortune 500 companies. Irwin’s notable achievements include defending clients in groundbreaking cases where fiduciaries overstepped their powers, such as court-appointed guardians and Assignees for the Benefit of Creditors. He has also safeguarded clients in class action, antitrust, and trade secrets cases, with some cases involving stakes of over one hundred million dollars.
With extensive experience across the United States and internationally, including cases in Great Britain and Japan, Irwin’s background in antitrust and unfair competition adds depth to his practice. His early career in defending companies in Robinson-Patman and price-fixing conspiracy cases, combined with his roles as Chairman of the Florida Bar’s Business Law Section’s Antitrust & Trade Regulation Subcommittee and Chair of the Business Litigation Committee, underscores his longstanding dedication to the field.
