Eric Hager is a Senior Partner in Conrad & Scherer’s Quito, Ecuador office, where he focuses on commercial, appellate, human rights, and trust litigation. He earned his Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law in 2006 and his Bachelor of Science from American University in 2000.

With years of experience in complex litigation, Hager has been at the forefront of high-stakes cases, including a $38 million jury verdict against Chiquita Brands International in June 2024. This landmark case held the company accountable for financing a paramilitary group responsible for widespread human rights abuses in Colombia, setting a significant precedent for corporate accountability and reinforcing Conrad & Scherer’s commitment to pursuing justice in complex, high-profile disputes. Hager also played a pivotal role in the $832 million jury verdict against Wells Fargo Bank that Conrad & Scherer achieved for its clients in March 2025 in relation to a trust for the children of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Hager’s litigation practice spans both state and federal courts across the U.S., where he has managed complex discovery projects, collaborated with foreign law experts, and represented clients in cross-border disputes. His work includes litigating breach of contract, fraud, and tortious interference claims, as well as handling procedural matters such as dispositive motions and evidentiary disputes.

Earlier in his career, Hager focused on representing clients in human rights cases against multinational corporations, conducting fieldwork in remote areas of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. His experience in this challenging field has given him a deep understanding of international disputes.

Hager resides in Quito, Ecuador, and maintains strong connections throughout South America, making him a valuable resource for clients navigating complex global disputes.
